The scientists hope that the modified semi-intelligent creature will help Aelion solve certain nontrivial tasks. In the future, it might even fight its brethren that are serving Thanatos. While this sounds great in theory, the prototype has been tested only in the laboratory. There is an urgent need to test its skills in the field. The problem is, there is a large research grant at stake. Other specialists are also competing for it, and the deadline for providing results is rapidly approaching.
